Climate change

In it's 4th assessment, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), recently concluded that 'Global atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide have increased markedly as a result of human activities since 1750 and now far exceed pre-industrial levels... Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, as is now evident from observation of increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising global average sea level.'

Peak Oil

At the same time, we find that we are increasingly reliant on dwindling supplies of foreign oil and gas while world demand continues to soar. Our addiction to fossil fuels threatens to condemn us to decades of economic chaos and military conflict. David Strahan, author of the book 'The Last Oil Shock', describes the problem in this video:-
